BOARD OF DIRECTORS / OFFICERS PROFILE

Captain Prescott Smith, President Committee Coordinator: Science

Prescott is Owner/Operator, Stafford Creek Bonefish Lodge, Blanket Sound, North Andros and is a co-founder of The Bahamas Sportfishing Conservation Association (BSCA). He has spent practically all his life in the marine environment, whether policing Bahamian waters against poachers or providing tours for anglers. Prescott loves swimming, windsurfing, flyfishing, deep sea fishing, bird watching as well as farming and reading. He has a passion for the conservation of our natural environment as well as empowerment of locals through the sustainable use of the environment to earn a living. Prescott has a number of certifications including a Master's License, Mechanical Engineer's License and is a Certified Scuba Diver. He is also a Fly-Casting Instructor at several universities in the United States as well as a Master Instructor in the Bahamas' National Guides Certification Programme.

Olivia C. Saunders, Director & Vice President

Committee Coordinator: Website and Public Relations

Olivia has partnered in various projects with the private sector, government ministries and departments. She is an associate professor with The College of The Bahamas and specialises in economic development and research. She brings with her integrity as a core value and believes in moving forward regardless of the odds. Olivia has a love for playing tennis, gardening and reading non-fiction. She is a founding member of Bahamas Vision 20/20 which is "to facilitate the process of creating a shared national vision" for The Bahamas.

Emily M. Rahming, Director & Treasurer

Committee Coordinator: Advisory

Emily is a Chartered Accountant & Consultant, Emily Rahming & Cowith over 35 years experience in the accounting field, having served in both the public and private sectors. She is the founder and chairperson of the South Andros Handicraft and Manufacturers Association (SAHMA), which teaches locals how to engage in sustainable economic activity while preserving the environment. Emily is also heavily involved in the local community having served on various committees including the South Andros Coconut Festival Committee, Ministry of Youth Summer Youth Programme for South Andros and the South Andros Art & Craft Festival.

Benjamin Pratt, Director & Secretary

Committee member: Education and Outreach

Benjamin loves boating and sailing and as such believes it is vitally important to preserve our pristine marine environment. As the Assistant Manager in the Education & Training Department of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Benjamin assisted the BSCA in the development of the National Guide Certification Programme for The Bahamas.

Captain Joel L. Moxey, Director & Assistant Treasurer

Committee member: Membership and Fundraising

Joel is co-founder and past Treasurer of The Bahamas Sportfishing Conservation Association. He is Owner/Operator, Moxey's Bonefish Lodge, Mangrove Cay, Andros. Despite his background in banking and accounting, Joel has great interests in flyfishing, fly tying and golf. In addition to managing a small bonefishing resort on the island of Andros,Joel has trained fly fishing guides in addition to working as a fly fishing guide and instructor.

Tracey L. Thompson, Director & Assistant Secretary

Committee Coordinator: Education & Outreach

Tracey has a great passion for preserving the natural environment, particularly for the benefit of children. She is developing a project to provide a direct link between the environment and its contribution to the personal development and growth of children in The Bahamas. A student of history and law, Tracey believes that the future to maintaining the conservation efforts in The Bahamas is through the education of children at an early age in their development.

Keod Smith, Director, Legal advisor

Committee Coordinator: Membership and Fundraising

Keod is a Counsel and Attorney-at-Law with Commercial Law Advocates. He has long been an advocate for the preservation and conservation of the overall environments in The Bahamas.  This has been demonstrated through his active participation and stewardship as leader and initiator of the"Save the Clifton Cay" campaign, as well as partnership in the Youth Empowerment & Skills Training effort, The Bahamas National Trust (BNT) and consultancy to The Bahamas Reef & Environment Education Foundation (BREEF).  Keod wants to recast the Bahamian community so that every citizen, especially the young and unborn, in their lifetime, will have the chance to own their fair share of 'the land'.

Captain Kendal I. Williamson, Director

Committee member:  Education & Outreach

Kendal is a highly motivated marine pilot with degrees in marine transportation and transportation management.  He has been exposed to the marine environment in The Bahamas, United States of America as well as the United Kingdom.  Kendal is a firm believer that more than adequate safeguards are required to preserve and conserve our natural pristine environments for future generations to come.

Captain Andra (Andy) C. Smith, Director

Committee member: Membership and Fundraising

Andy is Owner/Operator, Broad Shad Cay Lodge, Broad Shad Cay, North Bight, Andros Island and one of the founding members of the BSCA.  He believes in educating people about taking care of the Bahamian environment so it will be around for many years to come.  Andy lives for fishing and has been in the flyfishing business for 30 years.  In November 2007 he opended his own exclusive lodge, Broad Shad Cay Lodge.

Edmund Rahming Sr., Executive Director

Ed heads and coordinates BSCA's office and activities from Congo Town, South Andros. Ed brings a wealth of business and entreprenuerial experiences to BSCA. Ed was born in Deep Creek, South Andros and completed his high school education at Kemp's Bay,South Andros. His further education was at The College of The Bahamas where he studied Business Administration, and the University of Tennessee where he studied Public Health Administration. His work experience is in Banking, Finance and Public Health and he owned and operated a health food business. Ed enjoys writing and is committed to conservation efforts in The Bahamas.
